Today, we are proud to be recognised as The Original Window to the Womb: an independent, family-run baby scan clinic founded in Nottingham in 2003 and still operated with the same personal care.

Our story
The Original Window to the Womb began in Nottingham in 2003, created by the Bowbanks family to give expectant families a warm, comfortable and specialist place to see their baby.
Where it began
When the clinic first opened, private baby scanning was still new in the UK. The idea was simple: create a welcoming space focused entirely on baby scanning, where families could enjoy a more personal experience while still being cared for by qualified professionals.
Still family-run
The clinic is still owned and operated by the founding family. That continuity matters. It means the values that shaped the first studio — care, comfort, safety and personal attention — still shape the experience today.
Independent from the national franchise
We are The Original Window to the Womb. We are independent and not connected to the national Window to the Womb franchise. If you have visited us before, you are returning to the same family-led service, history and team.
How the service has grown
Over the years, scanning technology has evolved from simple 2D and 3D images to 4D movement, 5D HD Live and 8K AI enhancement. While the technology has changed, our priority has not: the wellbeing of mother and baby comes first.
